SPIDER-MAN BRAND NEW DAY
On March 31st, 2025, during Sony’s presentation at CinemaCon, it was officially confirmed that Spider-Man 4 Brand New Day was in production. Held in Las Vegas around 9:00 PM ET, Tom Holland, along with the director of the movie Destin Daniel Cretton, known for previously directing Shang-Chi, announced “Spider-Man Brand New Day.” The movie has been confirmed to release on July 31 of this year, with the trailer being released this week on Wednesday, the 18th, at 4:08 AM. With over 200 million streams within the first 8 hours, it is on track to be the most-watched trailer, with “Deadpool and Wolverine” currently the most-watched.
When looking at the trailer, there are many Easter eggs and teasers, with the biggest excitement from fans being that Peter Parker is finally “Broke and Depressed,” making him a much more relatable character to the audience because of the struggles people face in day-to-day life. Within the first 24 seconds of the trailer, we get a clip of Parker keeping tabs on Ned and Mj’s social media posts, seeing how they are doing, before jumping off the building with the camera giving us a brand new shot of the inside of Spider-Man’s mask, similar to how they shot the inside of Tony Stark when he played Iron Man.
When transitioning to seconds 30-46, we get dialogue from Peter, seemingly reading a note he wrote explaining the past connection between him, Ned, and Mj before they forgot about him due to the previous events in the movie “Spider-Man No Way Home.” The clip shows all 3 of their perspectives during their daily lives and how they have been doing, with Parker’s perspective showing him beaten up and depressed. From seconds 52-64, we get the first snippet action clip of the trailer between Spider-Man and The Punisher, showing them in a mini face-off with Frank (The Punisher), eventually being kicked out of the car and left in the middle of the street, with Parker continuing to chase after the tank.
Then we cut to a scene where Peter attends a Party with both Ned and Mj there, where it then shows Mj being hit on by another guy, which cuts to the camera showing Peter, emphasizing how broken he looks. Minutes 1:11-1:24 show the long-awaited Metamorphosis Peter undergoes to obtain organic webbing and heightened spider sense, but as a result of this transformation, his DNA starts to mutate. In the continuing scenes, Dr. Banner is introduced, with him and Peter talking about DNA mutations, which cuts to Peter getting his DNA analyzed.
Starting at minute 1:43-2:41 is when all major villains in the movie are shown, with the starting character being Jean Grey being locked up, but then cutting to clips of civilians being mind-controlled. With the continuing shot being another face-off, but this time between Peter and Scorpion, which was teased 10 years ago during the post-credit scene in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Towards the very end of the trailer, we get the final remaining three villains being the Turantuala, Boomerang, and The Hand, facing off against Peter, most likely during the 4-year time jump.
Overall, the Spiderman trailer was amazing with many easter eggs, and teasers of conflicts that will take place in the movie and spur on theories to be made until the release.
