WHO’S BAD?
Whether you are a lifelong fan or just someone who loves good music, the new biopic Michael is a must-watch. Released this month, the film takes us to the “King of Pop,” letting us see the life that Michael Jackson lived and what he had to go through.
The movie does a fantastic job of helping fans understand Michael Jackson’s journey. It doesn’t just show the glitz and glamour of the stage; it dives into the hard work, the family dynamics, and the pressure of being in the spotlight since childhood. Watching his evolution from the Jackson 5 to a solo superstar makes you appreciate his talent and hard dedication even more.
One of the most impressive parts of the film is the casting. Michael’s real-life nephew, Jaafar Jackson, plays the lead role, and he is incredible. Because he is family, Jaafar captures Michael’s mannerisms, dance moves, and voice in a way that feels completely natural. It doesn’t feel like an actor wearing a costume; it feels like the spirit of Michael is actually there.
There are certain scenes—especially during the big concert recreations like the Dangerous or history tours—where the resemblance is breathtaking. Thanks to a mix of great makeup and subtle CGI, there are moments where you can actually see Michael’s face on screen. These “glimpses” of the King of Pop add an emotional layer to the movie that keeps you locked into it and enjoy it even more.
For the “OG” fans who grew up listening to his records, this movie is a huge nostalgia trip. The soundtrack is packed with hits, and seeing the stories behind the creation of songs like “Thriller” and “Billie Jean” will give you chills. It’s a beautiful tribute that honors his legacy while introducing his genius to a whole new generation of people.
