Wrapping it Up
Spotify Wrapped is an annual event that the developers of the app give to its users at the beginning of December and serves as a recap of your music history throughout the year. This feature was introduced in 2016, allowing Spotify users to view both the amount of time they spend listening to music and their most-played artists in a ranked list. Every year, this feature is anticipated by active users who want to see their time spent using the app and their top artists, with the average minutes being 4,000, with the most being 257,000, according to the Spotify Community and Dataconomy.
Leading into the anticipation, there are many people awaiting their Wrapped. Spotify is used by many, and students tend to use Spotify when it comes to listening to music while they do homework, activities, and even sports. One of these students is Louie Munoz, who is a Sophomore and had 16,082 minutes last year for his Spotify Wrapped. He feels he has listened to more music this year and is excited to view his Wrapped this year.
”I think my minutes will maybe be around 20,000 minutes. I am excited to see my Spotify Wrapped this year and hope my top artist is Sublime,” said Munoz.
This year, he achieved his goal and has 22,979 minutes in Spotify Wrapped, with his most listened-to artist being Sublime.
Another person who was anticipating Wrapped this year was a fellow Junior, Allyson Juarez. She has participated in Spotify Wrapped for the past 2 years and has a total of 68,000 minutes for the previous 2 years. She feels that her minutes will be higher this year since she has been attached to her AirPods and hopes to achieve 38,000 minutes this year, with her top artist being Laufey.
“ I participated in the last two years, and I think I’ve racked up about 68,000 minutes combined, and I have a feeling I’ve listened to a lot this year since I’ve been attached to my AirPods,” said Juarez.
This year she managed to go passed her original goal of 38,000 minutes and made 89,524 minutes with her top artist being Laufey.
