WALK OUT
On November 5, 2025 Miss Universe Mexico, Fatima Bosch, along with contestants who supported her walked out during a pre-pageant welcome event held in Bangkok, Thailand as a sign of protest. The Pageant official Nawat Itsaragrisil, also the director of Miss Universe Thailand called Bosch a “dumbhead” for failing to promote content about sponsors as well as not having followed instruction during a pre-competition briefing.
Nawat Itsaragrisil is seen in a viral video shaming Bosch publicly for having not allowed herself to participate in a group photo which was supposed to be posted on their social media platforms due to her own country’s director telling her she didn’t have to.
After having been left humiliated and disrespected by the Pageant Official, Bosch walked out of the pre-pageant welcome event alongside a few other contestants including the 2024 Miss Universe Denmark, Victoria Kjær Theilvig, even after they were allegedly threatened of being disqualified if they supported her. Many other former title holders such as Sheynnis Palacios, also known as 2024’s Miss Nicaragua, and Alicias Machado, who was Miss Venezuela in 1995, showed her support after learning about the event.
Senior Lillian Zarate stated, “Them walking out with her shows that they see her worth and stand against against injustice,” and “Miss Mexico set an example for others to stand up and speak up against injustice.”
This event caused a huge outrage on social media especially with many people feeling disrespected by the pageant official having regarded Miss Mexico as a “dumbhead”.
“It was disappointing because you shouldn’t call someone dumb, and especially someone who earned her spot there like her, and second shes been well educated so it upsetting that he referred to her by dumb,” stated Senior Nadia Ulloa.
After this event the Miss universe organization has made it public that they do not support the disrespect that was shown to Bosch. While they have promised to take preventative measures to ensure a a similar event does not take place again, no action has been taken yet. Itsaragrisil has also publicly apologized for his actions and has been restricted from the pageant that will take place on November 21.
Bosch, along with her fellow contestants, are still expected to attend the pageant on November 21 due to not being given any indication of being disqualified for the events that took place.
“His apologies were well needed after having publicly called her out and it is not fair that he only got prevented from doing the pageant for this year and not had any more consequences from what we know.” states Sophomore Nestor Aleman.
