October is well known for being the month of spookiness, and as such, many videos and movies come out yearly during this time. But there are two YouTubers known as Sam and Colby who will post paranormal videos for a whole month each Sunday, resulting in 4 videos being posted this month. While they were already well known for posting paranormal activity videos, the reason this year is more intense is because, rather than doing what they had done years back, of doing what they call “Hell Week”, this year they are doing something known as “Hell Month”.

But there are two YouTubers (known as Sam and Colby) who post paranormal videos for the whole month each Sunday, resulting in 4 videos being posted. While they were already well known for posting paranormal activity videos, the reason this year is more intense is because, rather than doing what they had done years back, of doing what they call “Hell Week”, this year they are doing something known as “Hell Month”. 

These videos will consist of them going to some of the most dangerous and paranormal places to investigate. Their overall purpose with these videos is to prove the paranormal to be true. 

The first video that they uploaded was on the 5th of October. It took place on Poveglia Island, located in Italy, which is a haunted island well known for being illegal to explore. On the exploration, they brought along one of their close friends, Exploring with Josh, who had already done many investigation videos with them previously. 

Due to this island being very old and abandoned, their hourly form of navigation was a map that Sam Golbach made in order to get to the three locations they were planning on investigating, which consisted of a hospital, a prison, and a graveyard. They were able to communicate with two individuals, one a woman who called herself Perry and told them not to communicate with a certain bad entity that lived there, and the second being the said entity, also known as Dr. Pailo, who was a documented living individual who performed many experiments on people, altering them on that very island. 

While they did get caught almost 3 times throughout the video, in the end, with help from a local ferryman, they were able to escape from the island at around 3:00 am.

The second video takes place in a 400-year-old farmhouse in Pendle Hill. This video is considered the most intense one of the month by many of their fans, as they performed a ritual in order to contact the Devil. They performed the ritual in this specific location as it is well known for having hosted a deadly witch trial back in 1612. 

Their goal was to ask the devil questions about the paranormal to prove it was real. Colby, on the other hand, did not participate in the ritual due to his own religious standing, but was still there with Sam to witness it. After the release of this video on the 12th of October, many of their fans, as well as non-fans, gave them backlash for going too far with their goal by contacting the Devil himself. 

Elvis Garbacio (12), who had never heard of them but was shown a clip of the event that occurred in the video, states, “that actually super cool in a freaky way I would never do it personally, but hey, each their own I guess.”

On the 19th of October, they published their third video of the month, which took place in France’s Famous Catacombs, in Paris.  They went with a guide in order to navigate themselves through these catacombs, as well as their friend Faze Rug and Sketch. Their goal was to successfully investigate three of the most well-known parts of the catacombs, which consisted of the bone throne, Filbert’s tomb, and the castle of death. 

Through the video, the viewers were educated on the history of the catacombs as well as why they are now illegal to explore. After having investigated for about 9 hours, they had started to prepare to leave when they realized that 3 of their exits were closed off. This resulted in them exiting through the same way they had come in, which resulted in them making a 300-foot climb and leaving through the middle of the sidewalk, as most catacombs are found going into streets.

Their last video of the month was published on the 26th of October and took place in The Conjuring house, a location they had already frequently visited. Many know of The Conjuring through the movies that have been made of it from many true stories. It is so demonic that two paranormal investigators’–Ed and Lorraine–last investigation was in the Conjuring, and that this very location was what led them to retire, making Sam and Colby the second paranormal investigators to set foot in the house. 

In this video, they conclude that the Smurl Family lied about the paranormal activity for fame and wealth when the entity that supposedly resided there no longer wished to communicate after several attempts. It should also be noted that Sam and Colby had tried to get in contact with the Smurl Family, but were turned away.

Hell month was an exciting month, especially for those who are interested in the paranormal. Maya Herrera (10), a fan of Sam and Colby, stated, “ I really love ghosts and anything paranormal, so when I saw that they were trying to live the paranormal, it got me into their channel.” When asked about her opinion on Hell Month, she stated, “Hell Week was one of the best times of the year because of all the different places they would go to so I was super excited for Hell month this year, and it did not disappoint.” Evidently, she isn’t the only fan who enjoyed this new switch from Hell week to Hell Month, as many fans are excited to see how they’ll keep proving the paranormal, as well as what other places they’ll investigate.
