Sunrise and Smiles
For those unaware, Senior Sunrise was an event that the seniors organized with Mrs. Galvin’s support. “The seniors are the ones who have put everything together. I was just here to open the gates,” said Mrs Galvin. This project has been in the works since August with the help of ASB.
This event was funded by student donations for snacks and other necessary items. “It was a lot of struggle because only seniors are the financial units,” said Mellody Medina.
This event had many students show up to watch the sunrise together. The students were taking photos with the senior sunset borders, listening to music, and lying on the grass with friends. “I think it’s very fun. It’s a fun experience for students to get to know each other and come around and vibe with each other,” said Kasaya McQuirter.
The event provided snacks and drinks for students who couldn’t bring their own, and attendees also got points for participating in a school event. It started at 5:45 and ended at 7:00 and acted as an early opportunity for students to interact with one another. They hope to continue this tradition for the years to come, and have discussed Senior Sunset, which is going to be held outside of school.
“Stay tuned, we’re gonna do Senior Sunset, but that’s gonna be outside of school,” said Medina.
