End Of An Era For The Community
Ho Choy’s is a restaurant that might sound familiar to some students or staff, as they are mainly known for their Chinese food and customer service. Ho Choy’s has been open for 15 years and was founded by Ringo Lamb and his wife. They have many regulars and friends who would come to their business. Ringo himself enjoys working the kitchen, while his wife serves all the customers.
They have many options and have affordable prices, ranging from $10 to $20, while their family meal options range from $50 to $60. They have many options, from chow mein, white rice, fried rice, teriyaki, to orange chicken, and many more. When it comes to drinks, they have many options as well: juice, sweet tea, soda, and boba, all being palatable options.
A customer had this to say about the restaurant: “My parents and family have been going to this place for the past 8 years, and it has become a family favorite. From personal experience, they are very nice and welcoming to their customers and start small talk before asking what you would like. They are very friendly and are pleasant people to be around.” “You know, very good relationship with most of our customers.”- Lamb
It may come as a surprise to many, but they will be closing by the end of December due to their lease expiring, and the cost for space becoming too expensive. They are also planning to retire and spend more time with their family: “Helping my daughter take care of the grandkids.”-Lamb.
He plans to take on a part-time job after the closing to stay busy.
“…I cannot stay doing nothing”-Lamb. After 15 years of being open and connecting with customers, Ho Choy’s will be closing at the end of this year. Ringo Lamb is happy with what he built. Though he is sad for his dream to be coming to an end, he is still happy to get more time with his family. “…I like to entertain them, talk to them.”-Ringo Lamb
